Hailing from the foothills of the Appalachian mountains, Sam Wise (she/they) (Online Teacher) is a Reclaiming witch and eclectic pagan with years of experience combining magic, activism, and queer culture. Sam is a member of AIRA (the Ableism-Impacted Reclaiming Alliance) and the Fellowship of Fire and Ice, a radical Norse pagan fellowship.

Outside of the magic circle, Sam enjoys tabletop games, Renaissance fairs, going to metal shows, and snuggling with their many animal companions.

You can find Sam on Tumblr at samwisethewitch.tumblr.com, on Instagram at @samwisethewitch, and on TikTok at @authorsamwise.

James (he/him) (Online Teacher) has been a part of the Reclaiming community for 17 years when he attended Spiral Heart in 2008 after graduating with a BA in Starhawk and Feminism from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.  Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a few years later and following the raven‘s call, he settled with a new unkindness and fell in love with home in Anchorage, Alaska.  Every day he finds himself captivated with the beauty of the landscape and in his free time, which seems a rare thing, he enjoys gardening, hiking, fishing and kayaking in the summer; crocheting and baking in the winter.   He teaches yoga at a local community minded studio.

This will be his second year attending Winter Witch Camp, first year teaching in this community.

Sophia (she/her) (Online Teacher) is a partner, a mother, grandmother, a teacher, and an elder in her community.

Sophia lives in Ontario, Canada in an idyllic food forest with her partner of 21 years and their dog, Brydie. She currently works as a free lance teacher, counsellor and spiritual mentor. She has been an organizer, teacher and Priestex in the Wild Ginger community since 2006.

Prior to coming to Canada, Sophia lived and worked in the hills of Western Massachusetts where she ran an organic, Permaculturally inspired Landscape Design business, Golden Yarrow Landscape Design, for 23 years.  While in Western Mass, Sophia was both a camper then an organizer at Vermont Camp for 5 or 6 years. She has attended Winter Camp in 2006 or 07 and is excited to join this year’s teaching team.

horizon greene (they/she) (On-Site Teacher)

I am a queer fat disabled nonbinary femme who practices at the intersections of oppression, grief, trauma and liberation. I am dedicated to the lifetime work of our collective liberation.

I am an initiated Reclaiming witch who believes and practices that love is our most powerful magic and that healing happens in relationship. I have spent more than 23 years in a deep study of how healing happens, learning to undo oppression while learning to co-create cultures of justice and belonging. My training has included intensive learnings in somatics, trauma healing, anti-oppressive practices, anti-racism, liberatory culture building, ritual and witchcraft. In my work as a witch and a trauma therapist, I accompany people in the deep work of making real what our souls know is possible.

I identify as a white person with settler colonial privileges, and also come from Jewish people whose prayers feed a commitment of Never Again for all of us.  I am dedicated to the lifetime work of unlearning whiteness while feeling for healing in my own body and cultivating relationships with my ancestors.

Cubby (It/they) (On-Site Teacher)

I am a queer non binary witch currently living on the ancestral homelands of the Piscataway Conoy and Nacotchtank people, also known as Silver Spring, MD. I came to Reclaiming in 2016 when I attended Spiralheart Witchcamp. Since then I have stepped in out of service through organizing, ritual Planning, and teaching for both Spiralheart and locally with Baltimore Reclaiming. I am an animist and much of my magic is centered around the body-mind, relationship to the land, song and sound, presence, and the power of a cackle. Last year was my first year teaching at Winter Witchcamp and I am grateful for the opportunity to return in this role.

Yule Danu Oyagbemi (she/her) (On-Site Teacher, Continuity Teacher)

I am a Mexican American Indian (Aztec, Apache, Cherokee) and Irish woman. My ancestors lived in California and New Mexico before these lands became part of the United States. I give honor and gratitude to the Patwin Band of the Wintun peoples, who have remained steadfast stewards of the land I now reside on, and I am blessed to share in their sacred circles.

I am an animist witch guided by allies, ancestors, intuition, and communion with the Divine. For me, there is no conflict between being a scientist and a witch—the study of chemistry and the work of magick both explore how matter and energy interact to manifest transformation. I draw upon this understanding to support healing, deepen intuition and prophecy, and bring about meaningful change.

I began studying the Craft at the age of ten with my first teacher, and I have walked the path of a witch for over thirty years. In 2005, I was led to Reclaiming and found a community of inclusion, ecstatic ritual, and soulful learning that felt like home.

My sacred fires include animist healing, priestessing, community ritual, intimate deep magick, journeying to the underworld, death care, home funerals, and rites of passage.

karin

Karin (On-Site Teacher) is a queer/bi, disabled witch currently living on the ancestral and unceded lands of the Dakota people in Bdeóta Othúŋwe, also known as Minneapolis, Minnesota. She uses she/her pronouns. Karin has been involved with Reclaiming for over 16 years and is a Reclaiming initiate. Her practice is deeply rooted in ancestral connection and developing a living relationship with her Nordic and Lithuanian roots. Relationships with Freya, the Norns, Sunna, Bridget and Bear among others are a large part of her devotional practice. She is a ritualist, artist and reader of runes.  For Karin, joy, humor, and diving in deep are essential aspects of the healing power of witchcraft.

Winter Witchcamp (WWC) and Upper Mississippi River Reclaiming (UMRR) are her home communities. She has served WWC as a spinner, weaver/organizer, and teacher. She has also been a ritual planner and teacher in the UMRR community. A large part of her ongoing work with both Winter Witchcamp and Upper Mississippi River Reclaiming is centered around anti-racism and anti-ableism, in particular bringing awareness to ableism and advocating for better accessibility at camps and other gatherings.

Riyana (On-Site Teacher) is a plantwitch, writer, and deep lover of the earth and all of her children– her world revolves around a constellation of mystical magic making, gardening, motherhood, writing, and finding ways to deepen into living authentically with the seasons and the cycles of the earth  She has been working with Reclaiming for over twenty years, and finds herself drawn again and again to magic that focuses on devotional, experiential, direct connection to the divine– such as aspecting, oracle work, sacred sound, and embodiment.

During the day, Riyana works as an herbalist and writer. She teaches both internationally and in her local community in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her heart belongs to the redwoods, the oaks, elder and hawthorn, her daughter Brighid, her partner, and the sea.

Diana

Diana Love (they/them) (On-Site Teacher)

I am a wild queer witch who is deeply in love with the queerness and wildness of the Star Goddexx and the birth and sustainment of all that is, was, or shall be. The resonance of love in this story speaks to the depths of my soul, where my magic blossoms out of me, and I become alive in the worlds. I am a Reclaiming and Feri initiate who carried the name of Love before I had even a clue about what it meant for me. My practices and teaching focus on tools of embodiment and connection. I love facilitating the magic of the moment, and bringing our ecstatic tradition alive.  I love playing in spaces of love, connection, and joy, as well as spaces of grief, pain, and sorrow. The Star Goddexx and Loki are here to teach us how to be with all of it.

I currently reside in the lands of the Hocack people (Madison, WI), whose elders past, present, and emerging cared for the waters, animal kin, plant kin, and the spirits that are so alive here. These lands hold the memories of deeper ancestors, who carved their spirits, blessings, and beauty into the land itself, creating momentous mounds all over, many near the abundant sources of water. I am honored to get to love and help steward this landscape that deeply feeds my mind, body, and soul.

Jason Scarecrow (he / it) (On-Site Teacher, youth path) currently lives in California, but spent the first 34 years of his life in the Midwest, where he learned to love the outdoors in all seasons. He has been teaching kids, teens, and young adults within the Reclaiming Tradition for over 15 years, and has been a parent for about thirty years. Raising a neurodiverse and gender expansive brood has helped him develop a depth of lived experience and wide-ranging context for many of life’s mysteries. His youngest daughter, Brie, will be at camp this year and was the inspiration for him working with the kids at Winter Witchcamp. Outside of all that, Scarecrow likes to climb really, really tall mountains and running long, long, long distances; finding deep magick in the cold, in physical play, and adventure.

Kara Unndis (she/her) (On-Site Teacher, Youth Path) is an animist, oracle, heathen, and Reclaiming initiate. She was born, raised, and continues to live with her spouse and two cats on the tribal lands of the Osage, Shawnee, and Monongahela peoples along the three rivers that thread their way through what is currently known as Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the so-called United States. Her magic is rooted in runes, songs, silence, plants, foods, fibers, and fighting white supremacy and fascism. In addition to Reclaiming, Kara is a proud member of The Fellowship of Fire and Ice (https://www.onblackwings.com/), a freely associating community of radically inclusive Norse and Germanic pagans from across the globe. She sometimes teaches classes about Norse magic and mysticism (also known as seidr) and serves as a mentor for the Fellowship’s apprenticeship program. Kara has also taught within her local Reclaiming community in Pittsburgh, at Spiralheart Convergence, and at Cloudcatcher Witchcamp in Australia in 2025.

Kara is a licensed professional counselor by trade and has over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field as a therapist and clinical supervisor. She has worked in residential, school, and community settings with children, youth, and families. She currently works with folks who are pregnant or postpartum and are experiencing mental health and/or substance use concerns and assists them in getting connected to services and other resources they may need to support their recovery and well-being. Kara loves drinking coffee, reading, listening to music, watching bad movies, laughing, crocheting, spinning fiber, crafting, cooking, gardening, talking to birds, walking in the woods, and visiting the ocean as often as she can. She is full of joy to be returning to Winter Witchcamp for the story of Loki and Star Goddexx.
