Winter Witchcamp is hybrid, with both onsite and online components and much that will be combined. One path is online-only, one is onsite-only, and the other two are hybrid.
Delving into the roots: Priestexing from the heart of our bright and dark shadows
with Riyana, Tere Parsley Starnes and Walken Schweigert
(hybrid, for both online and onsite campers)
What if every ritual, and every ritual creation process, was a love spell– for ourselves, our communities, and the mysterious ones? What if this spell required us to know our bright and dark shadows? What if this spell of devotion was an offering of healing to our communal roots?
Healing at the roots, we’re calling.
Healing at the roots of our belonging…
– from “A spell for intergenerational trauma” song by Ahlay Blakely
This Priestex path is about creating ritual at camp; creating rituals and transformational experiences in community; learning about our own authentic priestexing in ways that transform us and call us more deeply onto our own paths as witches. It is a chance to deepen ritual skills that you already possess and to develop new skills for ritual creation and facilitation, but also about finding our own personal relationship to devotion, practice, magic, and stepping forward / moving inward as witches and magic makers in our daily lives– so that ritual becomes not only something we do, but also more of who we are everyday.
Rituals at Winter Witchcamp are co-created by committed community members, and a step into the unknown. In this path, we will experiment with fresh forms and also deepen our understanding of technologies developed by Reclaiming teaching teams throughout / across our tradition.
As priestexes in this path and witches who walk between the worlds, we will interweave magic, music, sacred drama, the voice, and the body. This interdisciplinary and expressive path will challenge as much as it will excite. How do we heal? We engage. How do we find the roots? We dig. Come get into the dirt with us (online or in person) as we learn together, from each other, and from the mysterious ones, to reclaim our shadows through the webs of roots and mycelia, and unfurl our leaves to grow towards the light.
Prerequisite for this path is Elements of Magic. Participants should expect to spend some time outside of path working on parts, doing tech checks for sound, and participating in Ritual Conspiracy. This is a hybrid path– online participants are most welcome – especially to help us bridge the experiences of ritual for those gathered in-person and online.
Elements of Magick: Roots Down, Branches Up (and Out!)
with Irisanya Moon and Sparrow
(hybrid, for both online and onsite campers; open to all ages, including children)
Deep in the woods beneath a tall ancient tree, we witches gather to learn from the elements the way trees do. We extend our branches and sway in the wind. We root down deep into the earth and draw up nutrients and water. The fire of the sun warms and enlivens us with energy. And with spirit, we embody the wisdom of stillness.
- We drop our roots to connect to personal practices, sacred space, and grounding.
- We dance with the sun and wind with our resilient trunk of Reclaiming magick, activism, and evolution.
- We travel to mystery, where creativity, collaboration, and liberation spread branches beyond this grove.
In this path, we cultivate the tools of invocation, trance, divination, spellcasting, and more to engage with the deep, sometimes hidden places of our being. We step into the places where we can build reciprocal relationships with Air, Fire, Water, Earth, and Spirit, where we remember our sacredness and step into a dream that could touch the stars.
Please join us and play with the elements in the shade of the trees…
Remember this: We are the elements; the elements are us. Remember us.
Elements of Magic is a foundational or “core” Reclaiming class. This path will be offered in-person at camp and is open and accessible to all ages, including children.
We are the World Tree: Practices for embodiment, connection, and divine inspiration
with Diana Love and Yule Danu
(for onsite campers only)
The World Tree exists in most cultures. Humans have always turned towards the connection and wisdom of trees.
What does it mean to connect with the World Tree? How do the practices of embodiment impact our magic? Where do you find allyship to keep feeding your connections?
Working with the World Tree, we will explore practices and magic that bring us deep into connection with our own bodies and the bodies of our kin on the planet. Opening to the wisdom of our ancestors and the wild divine of all the Worlds, we seek harmony, balance, and healing. We’ll work with the roots in grounding and connection. We’ll work with the trunk, with the magic that is needed in the world right now. We’ll work with the branches, by opening our third eye, seeking visions and connection with divine celestial beings.
These practices will bring us closer to our own divinity, the divinity of our kin, and the divinity of all of life.
In this path we will be using trance, movement, embodiment practices, aspecting, and psychic skills building exercises. This is an in-person path and Elements of Magic is a prerequisite.
Solarpunk Pentacle: Rooting in Resilience and Possibility
with BrightFlame and Karin
(for online campers only)
In this path, we’ll work with the Solarpunk Pentacle that forms a narrative to be more effective in the world and create the futures we desire. What tools emerge for justice and resilience? What does it mean to be a Solarpunk Witch?
Solarpunk looks outward and focuses on mutuality and interconnection–working the pentacle helps assure our roots thrive in community to feed the tree. Solarpunk is a movement, an aesthetic, a genre, a memetic engine, and so much more. It’s dynamic as is ecstatic ritual and the pentacles we work with in Reclaiming. Solarpunk aligns with our activist, antiracist, anti-ableist, anti-transphobic tradition and Reclaiming’s Principles of Unity.
This is an experiential and somatic path where we’ll run pentacles, walk pentacles, feel their energy in our bodies, and receive their wisdom through trance and aspecting. We’ll co-create ways of working with the pentacle. For more about solarpunk, see BrightFlame’s website.
Open to those 16+, no prerequisites. If possible, please bring divination tool of choice (Tarot, Runes…) to first session.
